Goods-in-Transit insurance explained

What GIT cover is, why we prefer partners who hold it, and when to insure your own cargo.

Goods-in-Transit (GIT) insurance covers loss of or damage to goods while they are being carried. Vehicle insurance covers the vehicle and third parties; it usually does not cover the cargo itself.

How Arex Spectrum uses it

  • Every vehicle on our platform must have comprehensive commercial insurance and a valid NTSA inspection.
  • GIT cover is strongly preferred for partner vehicles and raises their ranking for job offers.
  • Our liability for goods is set out in our Terms & Conditions.

When to insure your own cargo

For high-value consignments, such as electronics, pharmaceuticals or bulk finished goods, check that your business insurance or marine/transit policy covers road movements. Declare a higher value to us before collection if you need it.

This article is general information, not insurance advice. Speak to your insurer or broker about your specific cover.
